Damon Marquis, Director of Education and Member Services for The Society of Thoracic Surgeons, talks with ACCME Past President Murray Kopelow about how his organization plans and conducts education on the use of surgical devices while maintaining independence from commercial influence and bias.

This video includes a discussion about estimating the dollar value of in-kind commercial support.  In March 2011, the ACCME modified the requirement for reporting in-kind commercial support, in response to feedback from accredited CME providers.  For activities taking place in 2011 and beyond, providers no longer estimate the dollar value of in-kind support, but instead they report the nature of the support in the Program and Activity Reporting System (PARS).  For more information, please visit
